William McPherson Allen


Born: September 1, 1900 in Lolo, Montana.
Death: October 29, 1985
Enshrined: 1971

Contributed to the development of the B-17, B-29, B-50, and C-97.

President of Boeing from 1945 to 1968 where he introduced the B-47, B-52, KC-135, and the Boeing 707 (the first American jet transport).

Under his leadership, Boeing developed the first stage booster to the Apollo-Saturn V rocket and the Lunar Orbiter spacecraft.

Received the Collier Trophy for the B-52 and Boeing 747.
