Dominic Salvatore Gentile
- Awarded the British Distinguished Flying Cross for destroying two German aircraft within ten minutes of each other.
- Made a place for himself in the record books at age 23 by breaking the record of twenty-six kills by World War I ace Eddie Rickenbacke.
- Destroyed more enemy planes than any other partnership of American fighter pilots with his wingman, Captain John T. Godfrey.
- Flew as a test pilot after World War II.
