The National Aviation Hall of Fame Receives Grant from the Ohio History Fund

DAYTON, Ohio / March 22, 2022 / The Board of Trustees are pleased to share that the National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) has been awarded $16,000 from the Ohio History Fund, a grant program of the Ohio History Connection. With these funds, the NAHF is providing immersive and engaging experiences in their state-of-the-art facility in Dayton.

The generous $16,000 grant supports the creation of a collection of digitally enhanced oral histories that will tell the story of American aviation and innovation. These immersive films bring to life the history, scientific process of discovery, and the physical wonder of flight through the remarkable stories of the men and women who created our nation’s rich aviation legacy.

Board Chairman Michael Quiello said, “The NAHF is committed to preserving and sharing the outstanding accomplishments of America’s premier air and space pioneers. The digital oral histories we are creating will further immerse our visitors with a stimulating STEAM-based learning environment that engages visitors from across the nation.” Quiello adds, “We sincerely thank the Ohio History Fund for their commitment to aviation education and history. We make a great team in honoring the past and inspiring the future.”

Each year the NAHF provides an increasing number of programs for adults and children of all ages. NAHF President and CEO Amy Spowart shared, “Our HHEC is free and open to the public and as we reinvigorate our space, we have seen our attendance numbers grow. We are working diligently to engage visitors and create impactful experiences and lasting memories. Co-located with the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, we are ideally situated to support and improve access to historical experiences that increase interest and build knowledge.”

This project is made possible in part by the Ohio History Fund, a grant program of the Ohio History Connection. The Ohio History Fund is made possible by voluntary contributions of state income tax refunds, sales of Ohio History “mastodon” license plates, and other donations.
