Joe Kittinger/F-4D Phantom II
Joe Kittinger, a 1997 Enshrinee, was already an Air Force legend for his 1960 record setting free fall of over 102,800 feet.On March 1, 1972, as an F-4 Phantom pilot with the 555th Tactical Fighter Squadron out of Udorn, Thailand, Kittinger and his backseater shot down a MiG-21.Kittinger would later be shot down and survived 11 months as a POW.
