LOW INVENTORY-Paul Tibbets/B-29 Silverplate “Enola Gay”
On August 6, 1945, Paul Tibbets commanded the specially modified B-29 “Enola Gay” on the mission to drop the first atomic bomb on Imperial Japan, thus hastening the end of World War II. The actual aircraft is currently on display at the Smithsonian Udvar Hazy Center at Dulles, Virginia.
